The words we use matter.
On this website we use ‘autistic person’ rather than ‘person with autism’ because that is what members of our Community Advisory Group have recommended, on the basis that they prefer identity-first language themselves. We are still using ‘has ADHD’ because there is not yet a well-established identity-first alternative.
We know that some people will have different preferences so if you choose to get involved in the project we will be very happy to use the terms that make you and your family feel most respected and heard. Please let us know what you prefer.
